I don’t care how hard life gets, I NEED a good date every now and then! No one should have to forego a good date night to keep a budget. There are just too many budget-friendly date ideas to miss out.
So in the spirit of trying give my own love life a little nudge, I’m sharing some of my ideas on how you too can be incorporate date night and avoid breaking the bank.
Have a Picnic
What’s better than enjoying a beautiful weather in a park or on a beach complete with wine, cheese and other delicious goodies?
Having a picnic is an awesome way to dodge the expensive restaurant prices and really connect with your partner through good food and conversation.
Must Have Items:
- Picnic Basket-Check out this Wicker Picnic Basket with red/white gingham liner that I found on Amazon that’s super cute and reasonably priced!
- Good bottle of wine or other drink of choice
- Wine Bottle Opener with Bottle Stopper
- Relaxing Location (i.e. park, beach, lake)
- Ice Packs or Thermos
- Cutting Board for making sandwiches/cutting cheese etc.
- Picnic Blanket
- Utensils, napkins, cups or glasses
- Hats for shade
- Trash Bags
- Great company and conversation
Exercise Together
What better way to spend time with your partner than to have a good workout together?
Whether you’re burning calories while biking, swimming or taking a hike, exercising is a perfect excuse to get close and flirty.

Create a Romantic Dinner Together
When I’m interested in getting in a little one-on-one time with my fiance’ cooking together is always a fun way to make our favorite meals together.
Add a little wine and good music and you’ll still have a good time and save by not overspending by eating out.
Plan a Staycation
If you’ve never had a Staycation, you may be surprised at just how fun they can be!
Sometimes all you need is a change of scenery for a night or two. If this sounds like you, plan a book a nice hotel in your current city and enjoy the surrounding sites and amenities.
Check out the local night spots, bars or events surrounding your new digs for the night to get the feel of a night out of town.
If booking a nice hotel is out of your budget, you can still act like a visitor by doing things and going places you wouldn’t normally do.
You can save money by not traveling too far and you still get to enjoy the perks of enjoying your guy or girl in a different setting slightly away from home.
By staying local, you can save quite a bit by avoiding airfare and gas prices to go the distance!
Enjoy a Dessert Date
What could be sweeter than sharing an Ice Cream Sunday or a slice of apple pie with the one you love?
Whether you go to a cool new restaurant with delicious dessert options or make your own delicious desserts at home, this is a fun way to skip dinner altogether and enjoy a sweet, yet simple date.

Meditate/Pray Together
If you and your partner have some interest in building your spiritual lives together, practicing meditation or yoga together could become a powerful part of your relationship.
By starting with a couple of meditation sessions with an experienced instructor, you’ll have the opportunity to learn how to dive into yoga and/or meditation together with clear minds and establish real expectations as a couple.
A great place to find nearby yoga studios for budget-friendly prices would be on Groupon.
Have a Movie Marathon or Binge Watch Your Fave TV Shows
Chic flicks, action, drama or horror? I’ll take em all! Binge-worthy movies and shows are super convenient and cost efficient!
Whether you’re indulging in Redbox, Netflix, Hulu or classics on TV the options are endless.
Grab the popcorn, drinks and playlist to get started. Trust me, you will not break the bank with this idea!
Board Games with Friends Anyone?
Interested in a group date night? If so, have a few friends over with everyone’s favorite board or drinking games.
Not only do you get to team up and talk a little trash all night, you also get to chill with other like-minded and fun couples.
What a group date lacks in romance, it makes up for in big fun for sure!
